HOF Rickey Henderson is only 19th all-time (111.1) in career WAR. Alex Rodriguez has him beat with 117.6, good for 16th overall. The nearest active player? Mike Trout with 86.2 (50th). For some reason I always thought Henderson would be a Top 10 player. Guess not.
George Brett might be a cranky person, but he was an amazing ballplayer. Three-time batting champion, 13-time All-Star, 1980 MVP, and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1999. He also is #48 in career WAR, with 88.6.
Dansby Swanson is a solid player. He is not a top-tier shortstop, but he is something north of a league-average offensive producer with a plus glove. And when you play a premium offensive position, you can’t ask for much more.
