I won’t forget getting this autograph. I didn’t even ask for it. I was at a Tigers game in Cleveland, and he just…walked over. As soon as he took my pen, I knew who he was…and knowing that he personalized…said my name. He signed for the three of us standing there and walked away.

Max Scherzer is one of the great pitchers of this generation. Over his 18 seasons in the big leagues, he has a record of 221-117 with 131 ERA+. He is an eight-time All-Star and three-time Cy Young Award winner.

He was injured most of 2025, so there is no reason to think he is quite ready to toss in the towel yet.

On the WAR front, he has collected 75.6 in his career. That places him 80th all-time, nearly tied with Paul Molitor (75.7). He just passed everyone’s favorite 48-game winner of 1883, Old Hoss Radbourn (75.4).
