Cal State LA–the Golden Eagles–had a very solid 2025 season and should have another good campaign this season. They have some talented players. One of those players is pitcher Ismael Quintero.

Last season Quintero had a fantastic freshman season. Over 30 innings he only allowed 24 hits, while striking out 23. Opposing batters only hit .231 off him, and he ended the season with a 1.80 ERA. He led the team in both wins (5) and saves (5) and was selected CCAA Freshman of the Year.

And he is starting 2026 off right. In his first appearance he went 3.2 innings, only allowing 2 hits while striking out 6. If that is any indication, he will be every bit as good–if not better–than last season.
