I am a huge fan of D2 baseball, and think it’s always great to see a D2 guy make it to the professional ranks. But it’s sometimes tough to tell who they are when their teams come through, since D2 stats can be all over the place. But this season, if I had to choose a guy who was going to be playing in affiliate ball next season, it’s Jake Entrekin. He is having a fantastic season, hitting .416 with a .537 OBP and a team-leading 19 HR. He also holds the school record for homers (45) and RBI (182). A senior, Entrekin won’t be with the Sea Lions next season, so that will sting. But the good news is that I am sure his career is far from over.

Speaking of Point Loma players in the pros, there are a few who I am a big fan of. Probably my favorite is Otto Kemp, who was amazing in Point Loma (career .356 AVG), and looks like he might very well get a call-up to the big leagues at any moment. I like to think I was on the Kemp bandwagon before it was cool. I am happy to see him doing so well. A couple of others are sluggers Micah Pries and Ryan Garcia.
