New Arrival: Tim Herrin, p, Cleveland Guardians

Getting autographs of guys like Cleveland’s Tim Herrin can be more difficult than you might think. He was a 29th-round pick in 2018, so he was not immediately a top prospect. He was a solid relief pitcher in the minors, and by 2021, a legit prospect, but not necessarily the kind of guy who gets a Bowman card. He had a rough first cup of coffee in the big leagues in 2023, but he blossomed with the Guards in 2024 and was a foundational piece of one of the premier pens in baseball. Now, Herrin is an elite relief arm, but not in line to replace Clase if he falters (that would be Cade Smith). So I doubt he will be in any upcoming releases.

So in this adventure, you better not have missed him while he was in the minors. And if you are trying to catch up and get a signed card, good luck. Other people were not getting a lot of stuff signed, since all he had were minor league team issues. And now he is in the majors, and Cleveland is (for whatever reason) a notoriously difficult team to get to sign anything. And pen arms like Herrin are not doing too many private signings. So…yea…tough. I am hoping he does a signing soon. Until then, this card will have to work.

Herrin is among my favorite pitchers in the majors, and I am happy to say he is having another great season. Over 15 innings, he has a 169 ERA+ with 16 K’s. And while many people assumed that the Guard pen could not possibly be as amazing as they were last season, the core of Cade Smith, Emmanuel Clase, and Herrin seems to be on track yet again in 2025.
