Eric Haase was one of the Indians Top 25 prospects in both 2018 and 2019. He had a ton of power and was solid behind the plate, but he also struck out a ton. Haase would see some time in both 2018 and 2019 with the Tribe, but never found any consistent at bats. The Indians traded to him to the Tigers in early-2020 for cash.
This season?
Haase was just named the American League Rookie of the Month for July, and on the season he is hitting .246/.301/.555 with 18 HR, good for an OPS+ of 136. Over 211 at-bats he still has 70 K’s to only 15 walks…but still, a catching with those kinds of power numbers are exciting. You can live with the strikeouts.
