Tony Gwynn. I got this autograph while he was coaching at San Diego State University. I am very happy that it held up so well over the years, and while I have gotten a couple of other Gwynn autographs over the years, this is still one of my favorite ones.
Not that you need reminding, but Tony Gwynn was one of the most amazing pure hitters in baseball history. He won the batting crown eight times, led the league in hits seven times, and was selected to 15 All-Star games, won seven Silver Slugger awards and five Gold Gloves. And let’s not forget that early in his career he was also a speedster on the base, averaging 34 stolen bases a season from 1984-1989.
