Brandon Barnes

Brandon Barnes was the Astro’s 6th round pick in the 2005 draft and has spent parts of six seasons in the majors. He signed with the Indians as a free agent this past November.

He spent most of 2018 with the Indians AAA affiliate but was called up in September for 19 games, hitting .263/.333/.421 with 1 HR.

He has only spent one full season in the majors, in 2013 with Houston. He was not all that great: .240/.289/.346 with 8 HR.

His problem is strikeouts. He has plenty of power, but the K’s kill him. He is the quintessential AAAA player. At this point, it’s probably not realistic to see him change up his game, but he is still a fine player to have stashed in AAA and available to plug holes at the major league level when needed.
