From the Field: Josh Donaldson, if, Cleveland Indians

This was acquired late in the season while the Indians were in Tampa Bay.

The Indians traded for Josh Donaldson in a desperate attempt to fortify their offense in preparation for the playoffs. Unfortunately to gamble did not work–the Indians simply had too many holes in both their line-up and pen to put up a competitive series against the Astros. Luckily he came at the cost of a mid-grade pen prospect, so it’s not like the Indians lost too much in the deal.

Donaldson showed enough during the regular season that I am sure he will get a solid two or three-year deal from a team looking to take a gamble on one of the best players in the game.

Donaldson has always been one of my favorite players, despite not always being the nicest guy to get in-person. While I would love to see him stick with the Indians for one more season, I hope he does well wherever he lands.
