From the Field: Rocco Peppi, of, Long Beach State Baseball

Long Beach State is in town, and they have a couple of players that I was really excited to get. Rocco Peppi was high on that list. Last season, as a redshirt freshman, he hit .321 with 5 HR and a solid .408 OBP. He was an All-Big West honorable mention. No bad for his first full season in D1 ball.

This season he is doing more of the same, if not better. As of today, he is hitting .311 with 4 HR and a .426 OBP. Also, last season he only walked 13 times in 212 at-bats. This season? He has 17 in 132. So that improved plate discipline is also pretty great. In the game I went to on Friday he had two walks in three at-bats, no strikeouts, plus on HPB. He is easily one of the best hitters in the Big West this season and is only getting better.
