My 2017 Topps Cleveland Indians Team Set

Another easy set to slap together–Series 1, 2 and update were easily bought together.

2017 Indians

  • Yea, I really don’t want to talk too much about this team.
  • Finished the season with a 102-60 record and was the favorite going into the playoffs. The favorite.
  • This team will be remembered for its 21 game win streak, which passed the 2002 Oakland Athletics for the longest winning streak in American League history and tying the 1880 Chicago White Stockings and the 1935 Chicago Cubs for the second-longest winning streak in Major League Baseball history.
  • This was the breakout season of Jose Ramirez–29 HR with a 145 OPS+. Overall the team had five players with an OPS+ over 100.
  • The Indians also had the best rotation in baseball–and possibly in history. Corey Kluber (18-4), Carlos Carrasco (18-6), Trevor Bauer (17-9), and Mike Clevinger (12-6) were all amazing.
  • Kluber won the Cy Young too. That’s fun.
  • The bullpen of Bryan Shaw, Adam Miller, Bryan Shaw, Dan Otero, Zach McCallister, and Nick Goody was again one of the best in the game. Joe Smith was brought on late and the season and was also a big help, while free agent Boone Logan was a disaster. It sucks since…I thought Boone Logan was kind of an amazing signing and I thought he was going to be a huge part of the team.

Cards of Note:

  • There are two rookie cards in the set, Bradley Zimmer and Yandy Diaz. I don’t have a whole lot of hope for Zimmer, but I think Diaz can become a star with more playing time and a couple more home runs.
