New Arrival: Del Crandall, C, Milwaukee Braves

Del Crandall was in the majors from 1949 to 1966 and is one of the better all-around catchers in baseball history. He was known primarily for his defense, but his bat had more than a little juice to go with his Gold Glove. He almost won the 1949 NL Rookie of the Year but finished second to Don Newcombe. During his peak, which I call from 1953 to 1962, he had a 105 OPS+ and was selected to 11 All-Star games, and won four Gold Gloves. He was also a member of the World Champion 1957 Milwaukee Braves squad.
