Monday found a fun late-season surprise show up in my mailbox: Texas A&M-Kingsville’s catcher Nick Wolff. Wolff, a junior, had an amazing season with the Javelinas, hitting .406/.479/.755 with 13 HR. Those are great numbers, and even better when you remember he is doing it as a catcher.

I am not the only one who noticed what a great season Wolff had. He was selected by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association to the Third-Team All-American team. This is on top of a pile of awards he has already won, including DCAA First-Team All-Region, NCBWA and ABCA/Rawlings All-Region, NCBWA Preseason All-American, and a two-time Lone Star Conference first-team selection. That is quite a resume.
