New Arrival: Troy Johnston, of, Miami Marlins

Troy Johnson
Troy Johnson

Troy Johnston was drafted by the Marlins in the 17th round of the 2019 draft out of Gonzaga.

  • In 2019 he hit .330/.402/.610 with 10 HR for Gonzaga. He has almost as many walks (20) as K (26).

The Marlins assigned him to Low-A to start his pro career and performed he performed really well.

  • At Low-A Batavia he hit .277/.373/.399 with 3 HR in 253 at-bats. This was his age-22 season.

Those are solid numbers, though as a polished college bat you would kind of expect that. By the end of 2020 the Marlins should have a better idea of the kind of future Johnston will have.
