Not only is Tyler Soderstrom Oakland’s #1 prospect entering the 2023 season, but he is also one of the best prospects in all of baseball. He is the rare catching prospect with an elite bat, though there is a chance that his path to the majors will be via first base. Still, his bat is so good that it should play perfectly well at a corner infield spot.
It’s a bummer that, assuming he lives up to his potential, he will not be wearing an Oakland Athletics jersey in his prime. With the Athletics and the City of Oakland unable to work out a new stadium deal, it’s unlikely the franchise will stick around in Oakland. And simply won’t root for a team in Las Vegas, no matter its lineage. This is all sad. While my heart has always been in Cleveland, I love the Athletics and will be very sad to not see those green jerseys on a major league field.
