New Arrival: Yasiel Puig, of, Cleveland Indians

Yasiel Puig was traded by the Reds to the Indians in late-July 2019. It was a huge trade for the Indians, who at the cost of one of their starting pitchers was able to plug a couple of holes in the upper levels of the organization.

Puig is a rental. And that is probably for the best. But man is he fun to watch. And he had been producing in his limited time with the Tribe.

  • Puig is hitting .357/.413/.571 (153 OPS+) and has almost single-handedly made the Indians outfield respectable, complementing Reyes, Greg Allen, Tyler Naquin, and Oscar Mercado
  • Plus his defense… it’s just great. It’s so much fun seeing a player not taking an extra-base out of fear of his arm.

I got these two cards from a collector who got him this offseason in Cincinnati. I actually saw Puig out here this past winter in Hawaii for a clinic, but he was kind of weird and refused to sign anything for the couple of us there. It sucked.
