Prospecting Arrival: Logan Webb, p, San Francisco Giants

  • Logan Webb was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 4th round of the 2014 draft out of Rocklin HS (CA).
  • Webb was one of the Giants Top 30 prospects coming into the 2015 season but struggled in both short-season ball in 2015 (3-6, 4.92 ERA) and A ball in 2016 (2-3, 6.21 ERA).
  • But Webb has a really nice bounce back in 2017. He would come out of the pen in the short-season NWL and allow 26 hits while striking out 31 over 28 innings. He only walked 7.
  • Despite being this fourth season in the pros, you have to remember that he was a high school pick…so Webb, at 20, was still almost two years younger than most of his peer in the NWL.
  • Right now it looks like his future is in the pen–and with his power arm, he could be a real weapon.
  • I am hoping that he opens 2018 in A ball, and if he continues to pitch like he did in 2017 he should move quickly.
